Here, we report an interesting case of a 54-year-old male who suffered from cardiac arrest with VF rhythm. However, existing evidence has not been enough to support this. The trial was stopped early by the data and safety monitoring board. Double sequential defibrillation is proposed as a novel modality of managing refractory ventricular fibrillation (VF). These patients have worse outcomes compared to patients who respond to initial treatment. Dual defibrillation in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A retrospective cohort analysis. Background: Despite high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), early defibrillation, and antiarrhythmic medications, some patients remain in refractory ventricular fibrillation (VF) during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Ross EM, Redman TT, Harper SA, Mapp JG, Wampler DA, Miramontes DA. 13 Refractory ventricular fibrillation (RVF) is defined as VF that is resistant to at least three defibrillation attempts, 300 mg of amiodarone, and does not exhibit return of spont. Eligible patients who remained in VF after three consecutive shocks had been delivered received one of three types of defibrillation according to the random assignment for the cluster: standard defibrillation (n = 136) with pads in the original anterior-lateral position VC defibrillation, with pads in the anterior-posterior configuration (n = 144) or DSED, with a second set of defibrillation pads (provided by a second defibrillator) in the anterior-posterior position (n = 125) with a short delay (<1 second) between shocks. Dual sequential external defibrillation (DSED) is the process of near simultaneous discharge of two defibrillators with differing pad placement to terminate refractory arrhythmias. Prehospital Double Sequential Defibrillation: A Matched Case-Control Study. Defibrillation is effective and the most common treatment for ventricular fibrillation (VF) and pulseless ventricular tachycardia in patients with cardiac arrest. All patients received initial defibrillation according to standard protocol for three defibrillation attempts with pad position anterior-lateral. This was a cluster-randomized controlled trial with crossover in six paramedic services in Ontario, Canada. DED includes Dual Simultaneous Defibrillation (DSiD shocks delivered at exactly the same time) and Dual Sequential Defibrillation (DSD shocks delivered.
